ALAN Hinnrichs again insists there will be catastrophic global warning (Letters, October 23).

When: next year, next month, next century?

Does he think that the UK's puny but expensive efforts will make any difference when the majority of the world has abandoned any pretence of meeting CO2 reduction targets and is in fact burning more coal?

I suggest he contacts the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, since it admits that there has been no global warming for 18 years, that the pause is likely to continue, and is at a loss to explain it.
