I cannot understand why the Scottish Parliament's Economy and Energy Committee has invited Donald Trump to give his "opinion" at its inquiry into green energy.

I also do not see why the First Minister should have to justify the Scottish Government's decision to pursue offshore wind development to Trump. Trump is neither a resident nor a taxpayer of Scotland and his public outbursts on wind energy have revealed that he is somewhat ignorant of the renewables industry and its purpose.

His controversial golf resort is simply a hedonistic, profit-making venture. In contrast, the development of established renewable energy technologies is essential to all sectors of Scottish society.

I imagine Trump will be the first to cry the loudest when frequent power-cuts affect his expensive, energy-dependant resort. Maybe then we might see him start to pour investment into wind energy.
