I AM appalled by the number of fly-posters and abandoned cable ties that afflict Glasgow's west end.

As a community council member for more than 10 years, I feel the need to do something practical by going around and blitzing these areas of the eyesores myself.

Glasgow City Council's cleansing department may sweep our streets readily, but they seem to ignore the cable-ties and the multiple, outdated illegal fly-posters.

We need to encourage people to care more about their local communities, dispose of litter responsibly, and participate in organised community clean-ups to bring back a sense of togetherness..
