The case for schools recognising the wider achievement of pupils is a strong and very much-needed one. Areas such as developing leadership, encouraging responsible citizenship and enhancing a wide range of skills are promoted not only by the Scouts, but also by the other main uniformed youth organisations – the Boys' Brigade, Girlguiding and The Girls' Brigade.
