Alistair Hulett

Alistair Hulett, who has died suddenly aged 58 after a short illness, was an acclaimed songwriter, guitarist of great skill and invention and a fine singer.

He was also a committed socialist, anti-war campaigner and community activist.

He was born in Glasgow, where he discovered folk music in his early teens during the folk boom of the 1960s. His two lifelong musical heroes were Bob Dylan and Ewan MacColl.
