He was born in Lennoxtown to Agnes and John. They, in another generation, would have had their own chance at a university education but they wanted their only son to do well and made sacrifices to see that happen.

Dr Raymond Wales, who has died aged 63, was a doctor who helped deal with the dreadful aftermath of the Ibrox diaster in 1971.
