James Farentino, who has died aged 73 of heart failure, was a prolific American actor who appeared in dozens of films and television shows.
Farentino starred alongside Kirk Douglas and Martin Sheen in the 1980 science fiction film The Final Countdown and also opposite Patty Duke in 1969's Me, Natalie.
