Paris is one of the places I nearly went to work. Other places I nearly left Glasgow for are London, Edinburgh, and Stranraer. But I digress.
As small consolation, the Herald did once send me to a Burns Supper in Paris. During the trip I had lunch with Simone Signoret, the fabulous actress. To be precise, Simone was in the same restaurant but four tables away. We did, however, have the same plat du jour, ham hough and lentils.

ANYONE wondering why I have been marked absent in recent days, should know I was in Paris in search of times past.
