Essay of the week: Why think Pink?

Next Saturday, Edinburgh will turn rose-coloured for the Playtex Moonwalk.

Pink, the favoured hue for pre-teen girls, and the colour, very nearly, of a Caucasian breast, is also the instantly recognisable symbol of a fundraising campaign for a specific cancer. You don’t have to know a great deal about charities to know what that pink denotes.
