Currently in HBO drama Boardwalk Empire, Kelly MacDonald is the most successful Scots actress on American TV – and still lives in Glasgow. Having won fame in Trainspotting, she’s appeared in Gosford Park, No Country For Old Men and got Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for her role in 2005’s The Girl In The Cafe.

One of the world’s top cardiovascular scientists and academics, with a research income of £30 million since 2008, Anna Dominiczak is the first woman in the post of Regius Professor of Medicine and Therapeutics at the University of Glasgow, and directs the university’s Glasgow Cardiovascular Research Centre
