French bank Credit Agricole said yesterday it plans to sell 5bn (£3.94bn) worth of assets and change the head of its investment bank, while confirming also that is seeking 5.9bn in new capital because its finances were shaken by the global credit crisis. Credit Agricole said the rights offer should take place before the summer, subject to market conditions.
