SCOTLAND were preparing to resume their bid for World Cup qualification last night after rain halted their Super Sixes match with Namibia.
The Scots had posted 279-9 and reduced their rivals to 59-2 yesterday morning before a deluge forced the players from the field at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Lincoln.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Preston Mommsen's men looked on course for a total well in excess of 300, recovering from the early loss of the in-form Calum MacLeod and Matty Cross to reach 150-2 in the 25th over.
Mommsen played second fiddle while Matt Machan took the attack to the Namibians with a series of blistering shots. The Sussex batsman hit nine boundaries and a six in his 61-ball 78, while Mommsen supported with 46.
Machan's departure, though, slowed the run rate as Namibia captain Sarel Burger inspired his side's recovery with a tight spell of 1-39, while the Scholtz brothers, Nicolaas and Bernard, shared five wickets.
Rob Taylor removed Louis van der Westhuizen, caught at long-off by Machan, and Burger, clean bowled, but Stephen Baard was 32 not out at close of play with Namibia still needing 221 from 37.5 overs.
