A road show aimed at making engineering fun for schoolchildren was launched yesterday by Deputy First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

Using innovative techniques, including theatre and interactive workshops, the BAE Systems annual education road show is touring schools in the west of Scotland in a bid to raise young people's enthusiasm about working in engineering.

Ian Davidson, MP for Glasgow South-west, helped the Deputy First Minister unveil the road show at Govan High School in Glasgow.

Vic Emery OBE, BAE Systems Surface Fleet Solutions managing director, said: "It is vital we work together to raise awareness of engineering and vocational routes into employment that are available.

"Over the last three years, the road show has visited 48 schools across the country benefiting over 5100 pupils, of whom 61% said they would now consider a career in engineering."
