The family of a grandmother of 12 found dead at her home have paid tribute to her.
Ann Gray, 63, is thought to have died a short time after becoming involved in an incident outside her home in the village of Crosshill, near Ballingry, Fife.
Police said Mrs Gray's body was discovered at her home in Inchgall Avenue at about 9.30pm on Friday.
Neighbours said Mrs Gray's husband had died some years ago and local teenagers were always coming and going from her home because she liked the company.
The widow lived alone in the village, but had 12 grandchildren from her two grown-up married daughters.
Her family said in a statement: "Mum was much loved by her family and friends, but especially by her 12 grandchildren who adored her.
"She was very kind-hearted and would do anything she could to help anyone.
"She was very well known in the community and will be sadly missed by all who knew her."
Neighbour Ronald Rankine, who was among those who paid tribute to Mrs Gray, said: "Ann wouldn't pass anyone in the street without saying hello.
"She was well-liked.
This has come as a major shock."
Floral tributes were left near Mrs Gray's home over the weekend.
The area remained cordoned off as detectives carried out door-to-door inquiries and forensic officers carried out an examination.
A uniformed police officer stood sentinel outside her village home.
Fife Constabulary said a 16-year-old girl had been arrested in connection with Mrs Gray's death. The teenager is expected to appear at Dunfermline sheriff court today.
Police in Fife are also investigating the discovery of a man's body at a house in Kennoway, near Leven, on Saturday.
Officers and an ambulance crew attended the house at about noon after the alarm was raised.
Police could give no details of the man last night. A spokesman said: "Inquiries are continuing at this time. It is too early to say if there are any suspicious circumstances.
"We will not be able to make any further comment until the results of a post mortem are known."
