Fashion Spy: how to dress for winter weather in spring

When March came along we naively hoped for sunshine. We should have known better (this is Scotland after all). Here’s the best way to stay stylish whilst stomping through the puddles.

A Spring Trench

The lightweight trench is always a winner for this time of year. It’s not as bulky as your woolly winter coat and won’t smell funny if it gets wet. A good way to update this timeless classic is to opt for lighter and brighter shades (to entice the nicer weather).

If you’re looking for an investment this beautiful Burberry trench is worth breaking the bank for. The monochrome option is a simple alternative to plain black or beige and is more affordable and practical than its flashy metallic friend.

A Sturdy Umbrella

There’s nothing worse than a flimsy umbrella so invest in a sturdy model that will withstand the heaviest rain and strongest winds. Being dragged down the street by your upturned brolly is not stylish (we’ve all been there). Spending the extra money on a well constructed umbrella is worth it, especially in Scotland. These two will brighten up any dull day with their eye-catching patterns and practical handles.

A Spring Beanie

Your hair has let loose and worked itself into a frizzy frenzy. Your umbrella is a shell of its former self. In this case a hat is your best friend. Power through Spring showers in style with a colourful pom pom beanie or a 90s inspired statement hat.

If all else fails grab the iPod, put on your shiny wellies and have a good old stomp in the puddles. Oh and Spring if you’re listening please get a move on!
