Scotland's most fashionable and influential trend-setters and industry insiders came together last night for the first ever Herald Fashion.co.uk Awards.

The awards highlighted the best in Scottish online fashion across 11 categories from some of the most talented and hard working creatives and retailers based in Scotland who successfully present their brands to a global audience.

My personal highlight of the evening was seeing Samantha McEwan founder of luxury street-wear brand Isolated Heroes take home the award for Best Scottish Independent Online Retailer.

Samantha founded her international cult brand of kaleidoscopic colour texture and print in 2012 as a graduate project. Her ethos was to create affordable luxury unisex fashion that moved away from the mediocre trend led seasonal collections that we are so used to. Isolated Heroes offer a constant supply of mini collections throughout the year featuring their signature surreal aesthetic that includes faux fur, sassy sequins, hand embroidery and digital prints in electrifying colours juxtaposed with pastels. Everything is hand made with love in her Dundee studio and distributed to an array of stockists worldwide.

There is no doubt that Isolated Heroes are at the forefront of today's international avant-garde fashion scene. They are regularly featured in style bibles Dazed & Confused and Italian Vogue and have a celebrity following that includes Lily Allen and Pixie Lott.

With Samantha's optimism, dedication and drive for the new and experimental not set for waning we can only envisage a dazzling future for this champion of originality and her tribe of Isolated Heroes.
