Chanel buys out Scottish knitwear brand, saving 175 jobs

Chanel, one of the world’s most prestigious fashion brands, is to buy a Scottish cashmere knitwear manufacturer out of administration.

The sale will see Chanel acquire the business and assets of Hawick-based Barrie Knitwear, a division of Dawson International, which was placed into administration on August 15 after the company was requested to pay a £129 million debt in its pension scheme.
