Following the announcement of all 12 exhibitors for Scotland Re:Designed 2014 showcase, the venture's New Talent Award applications have been opened.

The New Talent Award looks to recognise the high standard of talent emerging from graduates and young designers based or from Scotland, giving the winning applicant a helping hand into the business world of fashion.

In previous years the award has gone to designers Obscure Couture and HeraldScotland blogger Mairi McDonald, both of whom have gone on to be selected for the main SR:D Showcase. This year's Award partner is Zero Waste Scotland's Love Your Clothes Campaign which will offer the successful applicant a grant award which includes funding, professional mentoring and travel opportunities.

Previous sponsors of this unique award have included Mandors Fabric Store and e-boutique Perry Nelvill. Zero Waste Scotland helps Scotland to become more efficient in its use of resources.

The Love Your Clothes campaign aims to help reduce the impact that clothes have on the environment through a call to buy clothes to last, look after them, upcycle old items and recycle or pass on what you no longer want to keep.

A1 Textiles, a Scottish textile recycling company based in Glasgow, will supply the successful designer with waste textiles.

The winner of the grant funding will include:

• Up to £1000 for support with materials, development and hiring of specialist equipment

• Two return trips to London to work with a mentor, including travel and accommodation

• Professional mentoring from international up-cycling expert Orsola De Castro

• Automatic place at the ZWS Textiles Chiasma 18-20th March 2015

• Up to 10 kilos of  post-consumer materials sponsored by A1 Textiles
