It may be at the cutting edge of fashion but this show-stopping dress is also good enough to eat.

Entitled the Eternal Diamond, the dress, which has been crafted using 50kg of Lindt Excellence chocolate, was officially unveiled at Salon du Chocolat's world famous fashion show in London today.

It was designed by Edinburgh fashion student and Graduate Fashion Week Gold Award winner Lauren Smith, 23, and created by award-winning food artist, Paul Wayne Gregory, who spent two weeks bringing the dress to life.

Smith said: "It was such an exciting opportunity being able to create my first ever chocolate dress and work with the Lindt Master Chocolatier, who is as passionate about chocolate as I am about fashion.

"The elegant chocolate diamond is the iconic symbol of Lindt EXCELLENCE, which is referenced throughout the entire design, incorporated in the accessories and the embellishments, which really bring the design to life. Drawing on the finest ingredients that Lindt EXCELLENCE is famous for, the dress looks as good as it tastes."

The Lindt Master Chocolatier said: "Working together, we have created something truly bespoke, which captures the essence of Lindt EXCELLENCE in a creative and exciting way, bringing the Eternal Diamond off the page and onto the runway. Fashion never looked so tasty!"

The chocolate dress will be showcased at the Gala Chocolate Fashion Show opening night at Salon du Chocolat tonight as part of the closing celebrations of National Chocolate Week.
