This year was one of contrasts in the bad-taste fashion world.

There was the overly made-up look of fake brows, fake tan, fake nails and vajazzles, and then the dressed down, maximum comfort style of Onesies and Uggs. Here's a selection of some of the trends of this year, which we could do without in 2013.

Onesies Onesies, like Gangnam Style, seemed to be ubiquitous in 2012 –and everyone was at it. Basically an adult version of a romper suit, they were the more acceptable celebrity endorsement for wearing pyjamas in public. What started off as a bit of a joke soon became a uniform for Towie cast members, then the One Direction boys, and even Rihanna, who at least wore hers with a bit of attitude. You can now pick up a version from John Lewis, Marks and Spencer and every other high street shop. Onesies are fine for slobbing around the house – but you wouldn’t wear them out to do the shopping, would you? Meggings As with the onesie, Meggings are another trend for the guys. Like the portmanteau ‘moobs’, meggings are leggings specifically for men. Not just the preserve of ballet dancers, this trend has apparently swept through Manhattan, with Russell Brand and Justin Bieber both sporting a pair. Let’s just hope the hipsters in their skinny jeans decide not to take figure-hugging to the next level. Scouse brows Instead of over plucking eyebrows, this year eyebrows have been heavily pencilled in. Various wags like Colleen Rooney have been showing off dark, over emphasised brows. Said to have originated from Liverpool, the name was coined by one of the characters from the TV show Desperate Scousewives. Unfortunately for the Duchess of Cambridge, she has been accused of having a scouse brow too. Dip-dye hair This is a difficult one to be on the list, as there have been a number of A-listers who have pulled off dip-dye hair with style. Beyonce, Lauren Conrad and Coco Rocha for example. Nicki Minaj with rainbow striped hair is debatable. But the problem with dip-dye hair is that if it’s not done well it can just make hair look like it’s been neglected for years. No heel wedge shoes They are big, chunky, unflattering and unwalkable. It’s fine if you are Lady Gaga and you have a burly security guard to help you walk, but there’s nothing worse than seeing girls stumbling around at night time in shoes they can’t walk in.
