Scotland's most exciting emerging fashion talent are coming together for a catwalk show at the prestigious Edinburgh International Fashion Festival.

The show, entitled Future Fashion, brings together the cream of up-and-coming Scottish-based fashion, jewelers and accessory designers.

Many of those taking part in the show have strong connections to Glasgow, including Rebecca Torres, Bebaroque and Obscure Couture, all of whom either trained or now trade from the city. Glasgow-based designer Mairi McDonald, who writes the Trendspotter blog for Herald Scotland, will also be showcasing her latest collection at the event.

Others showing their work include leading Scottish knitwear designers Eribe and Cameron Taylor, jewelry designer Euan McWhirter, accessory designer Joyce Paton and Edinburgh-based fashion designerJacob Birge.

The event will take place on the ground floor of the City Art Centre, which will be transformed into a pop-up design market for the day, where visitors can get a closer look at the garments, attend a knitweat workshop and meet the designers. Three recent fashion graduates from Edinburgh College of Art will also be showing their work.

But perhaps the highlight of the event will be the runway fashion show in the upper galleries of the venue, which will bring the clothes to life. The show will be set against an exhibition celebrating the history of photography at Conde Nast.

Entrance to the market and the workshop are free, while tickets for the runway show, which starts at 5pm, cost £12.

Other events at the festival in the coming week include a men's fashion event hosted by Harvey Nichols, a talk and performance by star hairdresser Gianni Scumaci and exhibitions by Fashion Scandinavia and Location Scotland.
