Six artists, including Charles Burns of Black Hole fame, put their fears into graphic form in this animated collaboration. The segments are hit and miss; the tale of the girlfriend who is not quite as sweet as she seems, the mad dogs that never manage to stay on the leash, and the samurai who won't stay dead are the ones that stand out. Shot in black and white, Fears of the Dark is for comic-book aficionados and horror fans, definitely not the Pixar crowd. You have to be a certain height to take this ride and not have trouble sleeping later.
