Five fire engines were called out to a blaze at a farm early on Saturday.

A large quantity of hay and some farm machinery at the farm in Stonehouse, Lanarkshire, were on fire, with the flames spreading towards a diesel storage tank.

Firefighters rushed to the scene at about 1am, with the first crew to arrive from Strathaven community fire station.

But more firefighters were needed to tackle the incident, due to poor water supplies at the location.

At the height of the blaze Strathclyde Fire and Rescue had five fire engines from across Lanarkshire at the scene, setting up a water relay to take water from the nearest suitable mains supply.

Cattle in surrounding sheds also had to be moved into fields as a precautionary measure.
