Flashman creator, Herald writer: George MacDonald Fraser dies

George MacDonald Fraser, creator of the much-loved Flashman series of adventure yarns, has died of cancer. He was the war veteran turned reporter for the Glasgow Herald who rose to become a Hollywood scriptwriter and best-selling novelist.
