4-6 Dean Street
Edinburgh
What is it? This is the third Bon Vivant venture in Edinburgh for the young entrepreneur Stuart McCluskey, with the other two on the cobbled Thistle Street in the New Town. Stockbridge is becoming the closest thing Edinburgh has to the West Village in New York, with loads of quirky shops and some of the best places to eat or drink in the city. Some people would even argue that this is the coolest place to hang out in the capital. The restaurant and bar sits at the start of Dean Street. The interior is relaxed and effortless, with loads of old wooden furniture and vintage art pieces dotted about. The bar itself is the main focal point, which I love. Interesting fact: In my French/English dictionary Bon Vivant translates as a person who enjoys the good things in life, especially food and drink; a man about town.
