St. Mungo - the flagship lager from Glasgow's WEST Brewery - will be available to buy for £1.75 per bottle in a total of 83 Tesco stores across Scotland.

From as far north as Lerwick down to Annan in Dumfries, fans of the flagship beer will be able to purchase the 330ml bottles. Brewed in accordance with the German Purity Law of 1516 - which states that only water, barley, hops and used can be used in the brewing process - WEST is unique in the UK as being the only brewery that operates under these strict parameters which ensure quality and consistency.

Owner Petra Wetzel said: "My son Noah and I shop in our local Tesco in Milngavie. Noah kept telling me Tesco "should sell our beer, mummy" and he will be delighted to see St. Mungo on the shelves of our local store. The timing of the listing also coincides with my 40th birthday so I am thrilled with this unusual present."

Tesco buyer Craig Chalmers said: "WEST is one of Scotland's most exciting breweries and we are delighted to have added St. Mungo lager to our range of Scottish beers. We are really proud to source a great variety of beers from local breweries and I'm sure our customers will enjoy this fantastic addition."

WEST's steady growth and increasing popularity exemplifies the continued consumer demand for beer that is both innovative and of exceptional quality. As the company delivers on both these counts, its quest for creating truly great Scottish beer proceeds with plans for a brewery expansion next year.

It is the first time WEST's St Mungo has been made available on such a large scale by a single retailer.
