DIY Cocktails: simple Spanish sangria

Glasgow's biggest sporting event may be over, but the hustle and bustle of the city is not.

It's easy to get caught up in business and rushing around and not make time to sit down, relax, look around and appreciate all the wonderful things bonny Scotland has to offer.

If you want to get in touch with a more simple way of life, why not extend your summer holiday a little longer by mixing up a glass of Rogano recipe sangria.

1/2 oz brandy

1/2 oz orange liqueur, such as Triple Sec

1 oz) freshly squeezed orange juice

1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

3 1/2 ounces light-bodied red wine (Rogano recommends Rioja)

1 cup ice cubes

1 oz fizzy water

1 teaspoon sugar (optional)

1 apple slice

1 orange slice

1 In a large wine glass, stir the brandy, orange liqueur, orange juice, lemon juice, and wine together.

2 Add ice, top with club soda, and stir briefly.

3 Add one teaspoon of sugar to taste if desired.

4 Garnish with an apple and orange slice round rim of glass and serve immediately.
