There's nowt quite like a hefty bite, especially one stacked high with goodies. That's right! This week, Yelp brings you some of the juiciest burgers in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Burger Meats Bun
48A West Regent Street, Glasgow City Centre
Nicola C sampled the special "La Tortuga burger, with beef patty, chorizo, mojo picon, toma raschera, chipotle mayo, spinach and tomato. So much flavour, so much juicy goodness. The quality is consistent across the board with these guys, it really is."
Burger
94A Fountainbridge, Edinburgh
Shona F "had the cheeseburger. The meat is so flavourful and juicy. I am a big fan of the bun to meat ratio. And the cheese! It was better than typical 'American cheese' or mature cheddar (for a burger)."
Cocktail & Burger
323 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow City Centre
"All the burgers are good ol' Aberdeen Angus beef and are sourced locally," says Sharon M. "The burgers are handmade so freshness, flavour and quality are guaranteed."
The Holyrood 9A
9A Holyrood Road, Edinburgh
Paddy H "had a burger, naturally, and it was damn tasty. Beer mustard, hop rolled cheese, fresh crunchy salad, and a decent slab of minced beef. Winner!"
Bread Meats Bread
104 St Vincent Street, Glasgow City Centre
"These burgers are surprisingly filling and there are some wonderful sides." Jason L recommends "the mobster burger. A tender mince with hints of spicy pepperoni. Each bite brings a new flavour to hit your tongue, from the fresh basil top down to the creamy mascarpone base."
Bell's Diner
7 St Stephen Street, Edinburgh
Katie L loves this "phenomenal American burger joint. I had the 6 oz bacon burger with a malt shake. Bacon crispy as requested, very polite and banterful service from a lovely lady. I was speechless with how good the burger was, crisp lettuce, juicy tomato.
Jacker de Viande
111 West Regent Street, Glasgow City Centre
Gillian D goes for the bacon cheeseburger. "The staff ask how you want it cooked. This is an excellent touch because so many places don't and while I like a medium steak I don't like pink mince. Bacon on burger is always crisp. The gherkins are cut very finely so add taste but do not over power. Burger sauce is lovely."
Wannaburger
7/8 Queensferry Street, Edinburgh
Tony C says "the burger was well cooked, and tasty. The bacon was nice and crispy without being burnt, and the cheese just the right side of melty for me too! The bun was warmed up as well, always welcome."
Meat Bar
142 West Regent Street, Glasgow City Centre
Vicky A tried the "splendor burger (beef patty, braised shin of beef, toasted smoked mushroom caviar, taleggio cheese, roast garlic aioli) with candied bacon as an extra. I think all of us were feeling the love for the candied bacon!"
Bar Kohl
54 George IV Bridge, Edinburgh
Lucia A "opted for the New Jersey burger which had delicious fried chicken, mozzarella, salad and sauces. It was so delicious. The chicken was just good old fashioned fried chicken in a lovely batter."
Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
