The most traditional Scottish delight of them all, haggis is a dining out staple in Glasgow and Edinburgh. This week Yelpers brings you a selection of places to try haggis in Glasgow and Edinburgh, whether it's served traditionally or with a twist.

Cafe Gandolfi

64 Albion Street, Glasgow G1 1NY

Serving up the ultra-traditional haggis, neeps and tatties this Glasgow institution has been described as "scrumptious and delightful". Gandolfi has "delectable European cuisine using the best fresh Scottish ingredients" and provide an "intimate setting perfect for a friendly catch up".

Mums

4a Forrest Road, Edinburgh EH1 2QN

For James S, "The haggis was absolutely the highlight" here. Alongside "friendly staff who really care about the food and making you feel welcome," you can't go wrong.

Nakodar Grill

13 Annfield Place, Dennistoun, G31 2NF

Want to try a different style of haggis? How about haggis pakora? The bite-sized haggis treats are described as "delish!" This restaurant is also a takeaway, so you can get your pakora on the go if required.

The Devil's Advocate

9 Advocate Close, Edinburgh EH1 1ND

If you're looking for a fast haggis fix and a great cocktail to boot, Jonny Q suggests The Devil's Advocate for "a quick snack of haggis bonbons - really nice and definitely fulfilling my haggis needs."

Stravaigin

28 Gibson Street, Glasgow G12 8NX

You don't need to be a haggis expert to know that if it's "spicy, moist and damn tasty with a nice texture" then it's a good one! Many Yelpers have had their first taste of haggis here, and can see why Stravaigin wins all those awards. They do a mean veggie haggis too.

The Holyrood 9A

9a Holyrood Road, Edinburgh EH8 8AE

"They do splendiforous burgers and a great selection of beers, so how can you really go wrong?" Claire C suggests the haggis burger - "double thumbs up! Wash it down with a decent ale and life is good."

Sisters

36 Kelvingrove Street Glasgow G3 7SA

Dingwall haggis tatties are dished up as a side to a Scottish chicken breast at this Kelvingrove restaurant. There's also a starter option of a vegetarian haggis with Scotch egg, basil sauce and crispy onions.

WHISKI Bar & Restaurant

119 High Street, Edinburgh EH1 1SG

Haggis newbie Navin K found the haggis here was "a revelation. The portions looked small but were dense and filling, and the oatmeal "mash" was divine - flavorful and spicy (must've simmered for hours!). I shamelessly and happily polished off what the others did not want!"

Where The Monkey Sleeps

182 West Regent Street, Glasgow G2 4RU

Haggis on a bagel? Seems like an unlikely pairing, until the rest of the toppings are revealed. The Meathammer is haggis, chorizo, cheese and red onion marmalade, or you can opt for no chorizo on the 'Thar She Blows!'

The Hanging Bat Beer Cafe

133 Lothian Road, Edinburgh EH3 9AB

"There are gourmet hot dogs, including my favourite - Greyfriar's Bobby, with haggis and caramelised onion. If you've never tried haggis, try this. The haggis is amazing. If you have tried haggis and don't like it, try this. The haggis amazing." - Jenny L
