For those contemplating an extension of the January Dryathlon - or, dare I say it, an alcohol-free Lent, which begins this month - here's a grown-up alternative.

Summerhouse Drinks, one of Scotland's newest, family-owned soft drinks companies, has added a new Lavender Lemonade to its collection of popular soft drinks.

Lavender Lemonade will complement the Summerhouse Drinks range that currently includes Misty Lemonade, Scottish Raspberry Lemonade and a Hint O'Mint made with infused natural mint.

The Fraserburgh company's aim is to offer sophisticated soft drinks which are free from artificial preservatives, colours or flavours. The idea is the brainchild of managing director Claire Rennie, who often ends up the designated driver of her group of friends and spotted a gap in the market for a sophisticated alchohol-free alternative to overly fizzy, sugary drinks.

The drinks are produced in small batches in the development kitchen on the family farm and are 100% natural with no artificial preservatives, colours or flavours.

The story of Summerhouse Drinks began in January 2014 and since then the brand has successfully crowd-funded a Summerhouse Van for events and trade shows. It was crowned winner of Best New Retail Product for companies with less than 25 employees at Grampian Food Forum Innovation Awards in March, was a finalist in the Non Alcoholic Drinks Category, Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards last May, and was nominated for a Scottish Rural Award in the Artisan Drink category.

Summerhouse Drinks range is currently stocked in farm shops, delis and farmers' markets across Scotland, at £3.95 for 750ml and £1.50 for 250ml.
