CELTIC are poised to add a friendly match against Chicago Fire to complete the schedule for their close season trip to America.

The Parkhead club have been invited to provide the opposition for the prestigious MLS All-Star game in Denver on July 19, which could feature David Beckham, and will again seek to raise their brand profile in the States this summer.

Gordon Strachan, the club's manager, has been keen to add a second match to their trans-Atlantic journey and Celtic are now likely to stop off at Chicago on the way back to Scotland. Negotiations for a match on July 21 or 22 at the Toyota Park are currently at an advanced stage.

"We cannot confirm anything yet but it would be correct to say that there have been discussions," said Chris Bailey, a spokesman for the MLS club. "We need to dot all the Is and cross all the Ts before there is an announcement of the date."

Shunsuke Nakamura, meanwhile, expects to be fit for the side's potential Bank of Scotland Premierleague title party at Kilmarnock on Sunday.

The Japanese midfielder suffered hamstring problems during last weekend's Tennent's Scottish Cup semi-final victory over St Johnstone, but did gym work at Parkhead yesterday.

He hopes to join first team training on Thursday and be available for the trip to Rugby Park, in which a victory will guarantee Celtic retention of the championship.

Nakamura was granted little rest after playing for Japan at the World Cup finals last summer. Strachan admitted he may offer the player a period out of action before the Scottish Cup final once the league is secured. "We need to look at that, and I will do so as soon as we get things done and dusted," said the manager.
