Awards Gallery
This category will reward organisations which have successfully exploited digital
technology to facilitate expansion into export markets.
Judges will be looking at how successfully this has been achieved and the impact upon
the business as a whole.
Category 2 - EDUCATION AWARD
Distance learning organisations, further / higher education establishments and schools
are all eligible for this category. The panel will be looking for evidence of how digital
platforms and tools have contributed to and enhanced the learning process and the results
this has generated.
Category 3 - TOURISM AWARD
This award will be presented to the organisation which can best demonstrate how digital
technologies have been employed to attract tourists to a particular destination, resort or
facility. Consideration will be given to digital innovations which have been implemented
and whether these have enhanced the customer’s experience.
Category 4 - RETAIL AWARD
The judges will be looking for evidence of how digital platforms and tools have enhanced
the organisation’s offering to customers and improved their customer experience. The panel
will be looking for evidence of how digital technologies have allowed the organisation to
expand / grow the customer base and / or enter new markets.
Category 5 - ENTERTERTAINMENT AND LEISURE AWARD
This award recognises the successful use of digital tools and techniques in the entertainment
and leisure markets to enhance the customer’s experience and impact upon the organisation’s bottom
line.
Category 6 - RECRUITER AWARD
This category (which is open to all employers) will reward the innovative use of digital
technology in the recruitment process. All elements of the process are eligible from recruitment
communication campaigns through to internal systems such as application tracking.
Homebuilders, developers, estate agents and letting agencies are all eligible for this award.
Judges are looking for evidence of how digital platforms and tools have been used to effectively
engage with potential home buyers or renters, and the results this has generated.
Category 8 - MOTORING INDUSTRY AWARD
This category is open to all motor dealers and manufacturers. The entry should demonstrate
how the organisation has used digital platforms and tools to improve sales and performance.
Category 9 - NOT-FOR-PROFIT CAMPAIGN AWARD
The judges will be looking for evidence of how digital tools and techniques have been used to
galvanise support for a not-for-profit campaign. The entry should clearly state the aims and
objectives of the campaign and provide detailed results.
This award will be given to the organisation which can best demonstrate the effective
implementation of digital platforms and tools in a business to business capacity.
Category 11 - OVERALL WINNER
This award will be presented by the judges to the organisation which has achieved the
greatest competitive advantage through the effective use of digital platforms and tools.
How to enter
Please complete all the fields in the online entry form and upload your entry.
Your entry should be typed onto a word document (maximum 750 words) in Arial font,
point size 12 with 1.5 line spacing.
You can also upload an additional 2 supporting documents. We accept the following types:
Documents: doc, pdf, pps, xls, ppt, zip
Images: jpeg, jpg, png, gif, tif, psd, bmp
Videos: avi, mov, mpg, rmvb, mpeg, swf, flv, divx
Audio: mp3, wav, wma
At the top of the word document, please include the following information:
- Name
- Position
- Organisation
- Address
- Postcode
- Email
- Telephone number
Your entry should be organised under the following sub-headings:
Background
(What led your organisation to implement this digital technology?)
Research and Planning
(What steps did you take to put this into action?)
Implementation
(Provide details of the technology implemented)
Results
(What results has this generated for your business?)
Budget
(Please provide a brief outline of the costs involved - this information
will be treated confidentially)
Please note, judges will place the greatest emphasis on the results that the
digital technology has generated for your business, so please ensure that these
are clearly stated within your entry.
Your entry should be saved as the number of the category you are entering and
your organisation name.
For example: Category 4. The ABC Company.
If you are submitting more than one entry in a particular category please
ensure they are saved under different names.
You may submit multiple entries, and entries may be submitted in more than
one category. Each entry costs £30 + VAT (£34.50).
There are two payment options:
Cheques should be made payable to Newsquest (Herald and Times) Limited and posted

Please note, there is no online payment facility and only entries which have
been fully paid for will be taken forward to the judging session.
The closing date for entries is Friday, November 13, 2009.
Entries received after this date will not be considered.
Winners will be announced on Friday, December 4, 2009 at a reception and awards ceremony.
