From its teasing title to its spiky heroine, Marianna Palka's drama about a depressed young woman with a porn habit means to provoke. Not in any titillating fashion, you understand, but in a cool, indie, let's-make-a-statement way. Glasgow-born Palka writes, directs and stars as a Los Angelian who only leaves her apartment to go to the video shop. One of the slackers who works there takes an interest in her that turns into an obsession, and then a friendship of sorts. Palka's drama has its tender, amusing moments, but with hard-to-like characters and a predictable twist at the end, it's tough going.
