PATIENTS in a Scots health authority area are to benefit from a revamped website which gives faster access to vital information.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde's portal has been designed to ensure details about essential services are available within three clicks of the home page.

Services, visiting times and directions to health information are contained in the on-line guide as well as the latest developments such as at the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre.

The authority's existing website attracts 10,500 visitors a week and is seen as a vital link in keeping the public informed.

Ally McLaws, director of communications with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, said: "We have created a one-stop-health-shop with access to information ranging from caring for loved ones at home to infection control. There are links and contacts with NHS 24 and advice on what to do in an emergency."

Mr McLaws said the new design and layout was a response to feedback from people who use their services.
