Star rating: **** IN a way, the performance last night of Handel's oratorio Judas Maccabaeus, formally launching the music programme of this year's Edinburgh International Festival, was a kind of modest triumph. It was a triumph of world class musicianship over mediocrity. It was also a triumph of style over content, not a phenomenon always deserving of praise.
