Scottish designer Christopher Kane seduced the fashion world yesterday with his latest catwalk collection at London Fashion Week.
Sultry little black dresses mingled with animal print blouses to create an electric 1980s look.
There were even a few pairs of ripped jeans and steel-capped high heels to appeal to his more daring fashion fans.
The 25-year-old designer, who also consults for Versace, showed his third catwalk collection, for spring/summer 2008, in the Topshop New Generation Venue in Victoria House in London.
Kane, who is part of the Glasgow: Scotland with Style Design Collective, is one of eight young Scottish designers showing their collections at London Fashion Week. The design collective is backed by the Scottish Government as well as The Glasgow City Marketing Bureau (GCMB).
"Scotland's young fashion designers are making a great impact on the world of fashion," said Linda Fabiani, Minister for Europe, External Affairs and Culture, before Kane's catwalk show yesterday afternoon.
"The Scottish Government is pleased to be working with Glasgow City Marketing Bureau to showcase Glasgow: Scotland with Style Design Collective here at London Fashion Week 2007.
"This is a great opportunity for eight of our brightest young fashion designers to showcase their talent on a global stage."
Ms Fabiani, who also recently attended the Scottish Fashion Awards at Stirling Castle, hosted a reception in the Natural History Museum last night where she met the eight young designers in the collective.
The evening was attended by members of the fashion industry including key buyers and press. "The textiles sector is very important to Scotland, employing 38,000 people and generating more than £2bn per year," added Ms Fabiani.
"We have world-class design schools that have supported an inspiring array of designers who continue to captivate the industry.
"And it is exciting to see this new generation of designers who promise not only to uphold Scotland's design kudos but to build on it.
"I am thrilled to support our talented young designers and show that Scotland is a great place to flourish both creatively and commercially."
The Glasgow: Scotland with style Design Collective 2007 members include Christopher Kane, Brazen, Olanic (designed by Niki Taylor), Aimee McWilliams, Deryck Walker, Jamie Bruski Tetsill, Scott Ramsay Kyle and Vidler & Nixon.
Young designers Bruski Tetsill and Ramsay Kyle, who both recently graduated from Central Saint Martin's College in London, have been hotly tipped for success. They will both show their solo spring/summer 2008 collections for the first time at London Fashion Week.
Walker, who is known for his cool masculine styles, is also showing his spring/summer 2008 catwalk collection this week.
Bailie Liz Cameron, vice-chair of The Glasgow City Marketing Bureau, added: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Scottish Government at London Fashion Week and relish the opportunity to showcase Glasgow's design flair at this major event."
"The Glasgow: Scotland with style Design Collective initiative - now in its third season - provides a high-profile platform for these young designers, which not only raises awareness of their creativity to style setters, fashion buyers and media attending London Fashion Week but also converts into actual sales and press coverage of their work."
