Tommy Gilmour, the Glasgow promoter, has lined up a heavyweight title bout in Kirkcaldy next month after securing a showdown between the Pole Albert Sosnowski and Manuel Pucheta of Argentina, for the World Boxing Federation version of the crown.
Sosnowski, 28, made his Scottish debut in June when he featured on the undercard of local light-welterweight Barry Morrison's unsuccessful British title defence against Colin Lynes at Motherwell Concert Hall.
On that occasion Sosnowski, the self-styled "Dragon", stopped Steve Herelius to extend his record to 40 wins from 41 contests.
Pucheta, seven years Sosnowski's senior, will be fighting outside his homeland for the first time on the back of 18 wins and a single loss.
The bout will be one of three title fights being promoted by Gilmour at the Fife Ice Arena on September 14 on a Sky show featuring the local welterweight star, Kevin Anderson, as the main attraction.
The 24 year old Leven-based boxer will defend his British crown against England's Francis Jones in the hope that a win will move him closer to an eventual European title shot.
The Glenrothes super-middleweight Stevie McGuire, undefeated after 11 contests, will challenge Nathan King, of Wales, for the vacant Celtic title.
"The addition of a world heavyweight title bout has boosted what was already a first-class bill," said Gilmour.
Meanwhile, promoter Frank Warren believes the knockdown Amir Khan suffered in his victory over Willie Limond last month has led potential opponents to believe he has a "chink in the armour".
Having announced a 12-round showdown between Khan and Stoke boxer Lawton - who has a record of 20 wins and three defeats - at the Nottingham Arena, Warren believes more fighters are willing to take on the youngster after his last bout.
Warren described Khan's next outing - which may or may not be for the Commonwealth title - as a "real test".
"It's a tough fight for Amir in his 14th fight," said the Sports Network chief.
