Let's be charitable

The prospect of more than 5000 Scottish charities losing their charitable status this week by missing Thursday's deadline for registering with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator should ring alarm bells. Some may be defunct, but other very small charities, run on a shoestring by volunteers in their spare time, may be struggling to cope with the extra bureaucratic procedures.
