Fashion - inextricably linked with memory

Just as the hourglass dresses of the 1950s evoke images of Hollywood pin-ups, the flares of the disco era are now an emblem of a bygone time.

Memories of fashions past can also be a reason not to wear garments. Cue that well-worn phrase: "I wore those the first time around."

Those with good memories of the 1970s and 80s will recall (with fondness or fear) culottes. Those wide-cut, knee-length shorts are back in vogue. To bring them up to date wear them with statement shirts and bold shoes.
