Yer tea's oot -

There's many a night when you look at what's in the fridge and think how nice it would be to go out for your tea, as opposed to go out for a meal.

This distinction may not be instantly apparent to non-Scots who think, not unreasonably, that "tea" means a cup of tea. It's a confusing term admittedly, but it sums up for me those situations where you just want a decent, affordable meal but you're not looking for a treat or a special night out; a place that has more going for it than a takeaway, fish supper or a microwaveable supermarket airline meal, but one that won't break the bank.
