We shelter our tender plants in a cosy greenhouse or conservatory over winter but we still need to keep an eye on them. Low temperatures may damage or kill these plants but still and moist air is nearly as bad. Outside the first frosts put paid to sap-sucking aphids. Unfortunately these little horrors may continue to thrive and breed in the shelter of the greenhouse. The coriander on my window would be plastered with greenfly given half a chance and the same applies to overwintering lettuce and endives in the polytunnel.
