Creag Dhubh is an easily accessible hill just off the A9 a few miles southwest of Newtonmore on the A86 Fort William road. Due to its central location and commanding position at the junction of two major glens, the views from the summit are particularly fine and an ascent, especially by the prominent south-west ridge, is thoroughly recommended. Although it provides a relatively short outing, the route is ideal for when time is pressing, or as a useful means of breaking a journey up or down the A9.
