Colour-blocking is a trend that can be achieved on the high street even if you are on a budget.

At the recent Versace boutique launch in New York’s trendy Soho district, Alexa Chung (who really can do no wrong in the fashion stakes) was photographed wearing a full burgundy multi-tonal outfit from their Versus diffusion line.

Since then the image has found its way into numerous style blogs and publications, meaning multi-tonal dressing is something to be seen in!

In the interest of being on-trend and in budget, I’ve put together three different looks, made up of tones from A/W 12’s hottest colours that come in at under £100 each.

The first outfit is made up using Oxblood, a very rich, deep shade of red; perfect for wearing round about the office. No longer does work-wear mean dull skirt suits and uninspiring dress trousers - wearing trend led clothes in a sophisticated way gives off a great impression. Straight leg trousers are paired with a long sleeved polo neck to create a streamlined and polished silhouette; team them with some metallic accessories to break everything up and add a modern edge to your outfit. Don’t forget flat shoes if you are going to be on your feet all day!

Polo Neck, Oasis  £18

Trousers, ASOS, £35

Shoes, New Look, £15.99

Ipad Case, Dorothy Perkins £18

Necklace, Monki £12

Total - £98.99

Green is another big colour for this season, in particular dark forest shades. For wearing casually in the winter months, follow the recent trend of wearing jumpers and sweaters with pencil skirts. Keep accessories low key, a casual up-do with some statement earrings is all that’s needed to keep your look fresh - pair it with some pumps and an oversized bag for all-round dressed down chic.

Jumper, USC £20

Skirt, Topshop £20

Bag, StylistPick £40

Shoes, New Look £7.99

Earrings, Galibardy £8.50

Total - £96.49

Damson is a luxurious shade of purple, one which fits in nicely with this season's love of all things decadent, perfect for a night on the town! A bodycon midi dress with a hint of sparkle is ideal for the party season - pair this with some matching accessories and clusters of precious jewels for a great Christmas night out.

Dress, Lavish Alice £22

Bag, Miss Selfridge £24

Shoes, New Look £19.99

Necklace, ASOS £25

Rings, ASOS, £8

Total - £98.99
