Sophie Dillon, 20, on modelling that runs in the family and the hazards of photo shoots in six inch heels.

When did you get into modelling and why?

I got into it through my mum, she used to model when she was young and still does actually. Her agency had photos of me and when I was about 14 they sent them to a London agency and it went on from there I guess!

What do you do apart from modelling?

I also study psychology at Edinburgh University.

Who’s your style icon?

Hard to choose just one really, but I love Abbey Lee Kershaw and Kelley Ash.

What do your family and friends think about you modelling?

My family think it’s great because my mum was already aware of what the fashion industry entails and is always able to give me advice if needed. My friends, I don’t tell them too much about it actually, but they think it’s exciting!

Have you got a special routine on the day of a photoshoot?

No special routine just always clean face and moisturised. And afterwards a nice hair treatment!

What’s your most nerve-racking or embarrassing modelling experience?

I was quite nervous on a shoot in London when I had an Italian woman screaming at me for more emotion whilst I had to press strange torture mechanisms up against my face in six inch high heels…that was scary.

Most treasured item in your wardrobe?

Sadly probably my black skinny jeans, couldn’t be without them (not very exciting I know!)

If you could only choose one beauty product what would it be?

Touché éclat. Simple but effective.

What’s your favourite place in the town/city you are from?

I’m from a tiny village in Surrey so I love to just be at home or walking in the countryside. But I’m half an hour from London and there’s so much to do there, I can’t really choose. A stroll along the river is always nice though.

Favourite TV programme/music/books?

My favourite TV programme is the Sopranos, I’m currently making my way through it for the second time and favourite book is probably Brideshead Revisited by Evelyn Waugh.

What do you like to eat for breakfast?

Now that I’m in Scotland I’ve come around to porridge, it’s the only way to stay warm! Porridge, honey and a banana.

What’s your dream holiday destination?

I’d love to go back to India, I’ve only been once to the south but would love to explore the north more. Or road trip America. That’s a dream of mine too.

How long can you see yourself modelling for?

As long as I can, we’ll see!
