A host of Scottish names are preparing to get together for a unique Burns supper to celebrate the birth of Scotland’s Bard.

Comedian Karen Dunbar, actress Libby McArthur and television presenter Carl MacDougall will perform at The Herald and Sunday Herald’s Burnsevent at the Brig O’Doon Hotel in Alloway on Sunday, January 20.

Rising classical music singer Nicola Cassells will also perform traditional Burns songs, including Auld Lang Syne, and Still Game stars Mark Cox and Jane McCarry will give the Toast to the Lassies and the Reply from the Lassies. The pair play Isa Drennan and Tam Mullen in the popular Bafta award-winning comedy show.

The event includes a traditional three course Burns lunch and a dram followed by lively recitals and discussions about the life and works of Scotland’s Bard.

It is being held in association with Alloway 1759.com, which celebrates the national Bard in his birthplace.

Tickets for the event, which starts at 2pm, are £30 per person. Tables of 10 are available for £300.
