Three Birds

From the moment you walk in you'll "feel welcome", according to Kat A. With offerings like coffee-cooked carrots, pickled eggs on the vegetarian mezze, and sharing platters like the Big Cow - "a 600g steak, bag of fries and small sides" - it's simple and delicious dining.

Fanny Trollopes Bistro

Field
41 West Nicolson Street, Newington, Edinburgh

The Gardener's Cottage
1 Royal Terrace Gardens, London Road, Edinburgh

This homely cottage offers a set six-course menu for £30, which changes regularly. Nadya S recommends their brunch of "poached eggs and greens on sourdough". For dinner, dine on the likes of mutton faggot, and grilled apples with Crowdie ice cream.
