While it's still cold and dark, Yelp is here to remedy the chill.

We've got a bit of spice for you this week with Indian delights in Glasgow and Edinburgh!

Tanjore

6-8 Clerk St, Edinburgh

"When the dosa appeared, I had the customary reaction of holy moly, it's HUGE," confesses Catriona C. She was delighted to find it was "full of potato, and herbs" and came with soup and dips. "It's cash only and BYOB."

Mother India's Café

1355 Argyle Street, Glasgow

"No one will be surprised to hear that the food at Mother India's Café is great (I'm a particular fan of the Butter Chicken), the service fast and the staff friendly. I also like that while there's no reservations you rarely have to wait more than a few minutes for a table," raves Sharon M.

Bollywood The Coffee Box

9A Bruntsfield Place, Edinburgh

Not a traditional restaurant or takeaway, but "a kitchen in a converted policebox/coffee box", this special spot offers a "tasty, quick and inexpensive" option on freshly-prepared curries for those passing through Bruntsfield, including Alan S. It's even "adjusted depending on how hot you like it", he says.

The Dhabba

44 Candleriggs, Glasgow

Joe H loves the "traditional North Indian food". He adds: "prepare yourself that you won't see a chicken tikka masala! Service is fantastic and friendly. You gotta eat here - for sure".

Vinyasa

34 St Mary's Street, Edinburgh

Robyn Z is charmed by the "good variation of curries on the menu" and the "chic" interior at this central location. "The spice in my katmandu was judged very well, as it was warming but I could also taste the coriander, cinnamon and other spices in it".

Babu Bombay Street Kitchen

186 West Regent Street, Glasgow

Trying the vada pau, Jennie H says: "I don't know how somebody can make potato in a roll so darn tasty. The green chillies give it a really fresh note and it's beautiful and spicy. It's quickly become one of my favourite things to eat."

Mithas

7 Dock Place, Leith, Edinburgh

Mithas is now almost as well-known for its cocktail bar, but it was the "amazing menu of tasty, unique Indian dishes" that won Gina B's heart. The "tranquil and calm" atmosphere just adds to the experience. A highlight was the "unusual chicken salad wrapped in lettuce leaves with grated zesty green apple on top".

Rishi's

61 Bath Street, Glasgow

Andrew C "started with potato bahjis and the savoury donuts. They came with a small pot of Sambara lentil curry and coconut dip that was awesome. I do not the use word awesome lightly. That was a great start to this meal."

Tuk Tuk Indian Street Food

1 Leven Street, Edinburgh

The tapas-style fare at this "funky" street food joint is "damn tasty" according to Joe A. His top tip: "The wee veggie parcels that, as the menu says, need to be tasted to be believed." He is also a fan of the BYOB with no corkage fee.

Chillies West End

176 Woodlands Road, Glasgow

Catriona M likes the Indian-style tapas. "It was darn tasty," she says. "I had the vegetable biryani which was a mix of savoury rice with green chillies and vegetables."
