For the time-poor among us, the ready meal can be an all too easy option to rely upon, despite not always being the healthiest - or tastiest - choice.

But things are about to change, as COOK, creator of upmarket frozen meals, will open its first shop in Glasgow today.

The COOK shop at 498 Great Western Road, Kelvinbridge, offers a wide range of award-winning meals and puddings for the freezer that look and taste homemade.

COOK's Glasgow business is owned and run by David and Heather Hepburn. Born and bred in Glasgow, the couple have spent the last 10 years with their young family in Australia. The shop opening marks an exciting career change for David who has worked for many years in advertising and design.

David said: "The team at COOK is passionate about makingfantastic food like a really good cook might create at home if only they had the time and we're delighted to be opening our shop in Kelvinbridge. Our dishes deliver a depth of flavour far superior to what you typically find on the supermarket shelves. We can help you with everything from canapés for a drinks party, to family meals, dinner with friends or simple suppers for one or two - just don't let on you didn't make it!"

COOK's dishes are made by hand using the same techniques and ingredients that a good domestic cook would use at home, so everything looks and tastes homemade. As proof of its handmade nature, the name of the individual chef who cooked each dish is printed on the packaging.

Customers can take advantage of a 15% discount during launch week with a home delivery service on offer for many Glasgow postcodes. The shop will be open for business seven days a week.
