"Excellent unique building with a cosy and bustling feel inside." Saskia F tips "it can be quite busy at the weekends so worth booking! The sea bass is fantastic, I've had it twice now and it is nice and garlicky!"

Centotre

103 George Street, Edinburgh

Robyn Z loves the "huge high ceilings" of this classy George Street joint, and she's no less a fan of the "amazing" food: "my spaghetti carbonara was one of the best I've ever had", she swoons.

Celino's

620 Alexandra Parade, Glasgow

The pizzas have a "thin crust and are full of flavour. You are getting Italian restaurant quality pizza here but are able to take it home." Austen M also likes to dine in, "it's quite traditional Italian in style, but definitely does what it offers exceptionally well. Staff are really friendly and very helpful."

Amarone

13 St Andrew Square, Edinburgh

Cheryl C's had quite a few visits to this "massive" restaurant, and "all of them were pretty joyful". She notes that the "risotto with crab meat, tiger prawns and cherry tomatoes is tremendous".

La Fiorentina

2 Paisley Road West, Glasgow

Leanne R loves the "good, honest, hearty, authentic Italian goodness. I opted for the bruschetta. The bread was toasted to perfection with just the right amount of garlic. The tomatoes were fresh, juicy and plentiful and the side salad with balsamic vinegar topped it off a treat."

Positano

85 - 87 Newington Road, Newington, Edinburgh

This "amazing find", which Alex J discovered through the Yelp app, is full of "the unmistakable smells of olive oil, garlic and fresh seafood filling the restaurant from the open-plan kitchen". She loved her "perfectly cooked" squid-ink risotto.

Little Italy

205 Byres Road, Glasgow

"Purveyors of utterly perfect pizzas at just £3.20 a slice or £5.40 for a ten inch, its no wonder the place is constantly packed with eager customers." Jules M says that "Little Italy is so good and so cheap that it's a real shame the cafe isn't four times the size".

Cafe Domenico

30 Sandport Street, Leith, Edinburgh

Scott R "couldn't resist the seafood stew" at this "unassuming" yet "classic Italian", declaring it "overflowing with fresh mussels and fish" and "a rich variety of flavours".

La Lanterna

35 Hope Street, Glasgow

Julie E was impressed by the "extensive wine list" and raves that "the food was just sublime. I had the scallops to start from the special menu. They were about £7 but you get five plump, delicious scallops."

La Piazza

97-99 Shandwick Place, Edinburgh

Emma W discovered that this "really welcoming" West End restaurant offers some Italian classics on its "cold meat board", including "mortadella, salami, Parma ham and really nice chicken liver pté and warmed bruschetta".
