Buchanan Galleries has teamed up with Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) as part of an exciting project to inject fresh style into Glasgow's shopping district.

The bright and bold window designs were unveiled on Buchanan Street in the presence of Professor John Wilson, Executive Dean and Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Glasgow School for Business and Society.

The Buchanan Galleries' marketing team set third year GCU BA International Fashion Branding students an exciting visual merchandising challenge, encouraging candidates to showcase exactly how dynamic Scotland's graduate talent is.

Students were tasked with transforming the main Buchanan Street windows with an eye-catching spring/summer visual design which is representative of the Buchanan Galleries' retail offer. Students also proposed cutting edge spring/summer designs for the four display pods within the centre.

The winning students, Gemma Slawson, Hollie Shand and Rebecca Sturrock, presented their proposed window installation mock ups to the Buchanan Galleries' marketing team who subsequently chose the design to feature in the Buchanan Galleries window.

Kayleigh Chisholm and Lauren Crombie were chosen to create and design the internal pods within the centre highlighting the best of Buchanan Galleries spring/ summer offer.

The winning groups of students recreated their designs within the Buchanan Street windows and pods on 12 May 2014, and will remain on display for a two-week period.

Linda McCormick, marketing manager for Buchanan Galleries, said: "The students from GCU provided some excellent designs and it was difficult to choose an overall winner, so we compromised and had a winner for the windows on Buchanan Street and then one for the four display pods within the centre.

"Buchanan Galleries is thrilled to be on board with Glasgow Caledonian University and is proud to support Scotland's fashion stars of the future."
